I like to hang old calendars near the layout to help give the feeling that we are operating in the past. As there are only 14 possible day arrangements for a calendar, there are many past years that match the current year. And, if February 29th can be ignored, then there are even more that match January-February and March-December for a leap year.
I developed a table that shows all of the equivalent years over the last 100 or so years, so it is easy to select past years that match. The only parts of a calendar that do not match are the phases of the moon, as they have a different cycle.
There are three PDF files that match the entire year, January and February of leap years, and March to December of leap years.
